Documents for your accountant: a checklist you can actually print

Your accountant needs more than the invoices you issue: supplier invoices, bank statements, a cash count if you handle cash, and — if you are VAT-registered or run payroll — the records those bring with them. The checklist below covers all of it and prints as a plain sheet.

Contents

Handing your accountant a folder of invoices and hoping for the best is how a return ends up guessed rather than filed. Below is a full checklist, grouped by where each document comes from, with a toggle for VAT records and one for payroll — tick what applies, and print the result to hand over on paper or attach as a PDF.

The checklist

Turn on the toggles that apply to you and the VAT and payroll sections appear. The printed page matches exactly what is ticked on screen — the toggles and the print button are left out.

When to hand it over

There is no universal deadline here — it is whatever cadence you agreed with your accountant, most often once a month, shortly after the month closes. Some accountants prefer a running handover as documents arrive rather than a single monthly batch. Either way, agree the date and the format (paper, a shared folder, or a PDF export) once, rather than negotiating it every month.

What Lucanto already covers

The four-point checklist built into Lucanto is a subset of the list above — it checks what the app can actually see in its own data: invoices you issued and their paid/unpaid status, receipts you uploaded against expenses, bank transactions it matched, and bank statements — uploaded by hand as a PDF or XML export from your online banking, or brought in by connecting the account directly through Tatra banka. Contracts, travel claims, attendance records, a physical cash count, and payroll paperwork live outside any invoicing tool's reach. Those you still gather yourself, and they belong on this list, not inside the app.
